Paddling in Zaton
Salty Society rents stand-up paddleboards in Zaton and delivers them to the holiday resort, your apartment, or the beach. Boards are €15 per board per day, delivery to Zaton is €20, and there's no prepayment — you pay cash on arrival. Board, paddle, leash, fin, pump and carry bag are included, and we collect everything at the end of the rental.
Most people in Zaton are staying at the holiday resort, which is effectively a small town of its own — so we drive in and bring the boards to you. Give us your pitch or apartment number when you book and we'll come to it; there's no walking the length of the site with a board under your arm, and no meeting us at the gate. If you're in one of the apartments in Zaton village rather than the resort, just send the pin instead.
Zaton has one of the longest gentle beaches on this part of the coast: a wide shallow shelf where the water stays knee- to waist-deep a long way out, backed by pines. That shallow shelf is the reason it works so well for families and for anyone who has never stood on a board — if you fall in, you stand up. The bottom is mostly pebble and sand, so entry is barefoot-friendly, and the water warms up quickly through July and August.
The natural route is northwest along the shore towards the Nin lagoon — flat, shallow water the whole way, with the Velebit mountains standing up across the channel and Vir out on the horizon. An hour gets you a long way and there's no point where it gets serious. Going the other way, towards Petrčane, the coast turns rockier and more exposed, which is the better paddle once you've found your balance. As everywhere here, mornings are glass and the afternoon maestral puts a chop on it.
Zaton is families, and mostly families on a week's holiday at the resort with a car already full. That's the case delivery is built for — we come to the pitch, there's nothing to transport and nothing to store, and we take the boards away when you're done. Because the shallow water suits kids and first-timers, a multi-day rental usually gets more use here than a single day: at seven days it's €9 a day per board rather than €15.

We had such an amazing time paddleboarding - beforehand we had lots of contact explaining where would be best to meet, routes to take etc. They were incredibly flexible with timings for pick up as we weren’t sure our plans for the day and even changed the day completely due to wind. Part way through one of us stood on a sea urchin ( we had no idea what to do) so called them for information, they came and helped take the spikes out and even dropped us home, giving us dinner recommendations in the mean time which most definitely hit the spot. I cannot say enough how brilliant our experience was even with the hiccups along the way, this is the best SUP company in zadar !!!View on Google

Yes. We drive into the resort and bring the boards straight to your pitch or apartment — you don't need to meet us at the entrance. Just give us the pitch or apartment number when you book, and we collect the boards the same way at the end.
€15 per board for one day, €36 for three days (€12 a day) and €63 for a week (€9 a day). Delivery to Zaton adds €20 to the reservation. Collecting the boards from our base in Zadar yourself is free.
It's one of the best spots on this coast for it. The beach shelves very gently, so the water stays knee- to waist-deep a long way out — if you come off the board, you stand up. Go out in the morning while the water is flat.
Yes, and it's the paddle we'd recommend. Head northwest along the shore and it's flat, shallow water the whole way, with the Velebit mountains across the channel. Give yourself a morning and keep an eye on the wind for the way back.
