Paddling in Nin
Salty Society rents stand-up paddleboards in Nin and delivers them to the lagoon, Queen's Beach, or wherever you're staying. Boards are €15 per board per day, delivery to Nin is €20, and there's no prepayment — you pay cash when we arrive. Board, paddle, leash, fin, pump and carry bag are included, and we collect everything again at the end. The shallow, flat lagoon makes Nin the most beginner-friendly place to paddle anywhere near Zadar.
We'll meet you at whichever end of Nin you're actually at — the lagoon side by the old town bridges, the Queen's Beach car park, or outside your apartment. Nin is spread between the island town and several kilometres of beach, so tell us which when you book. If you're heading for Queen's Beach, meeting at the car park end saves you the walk across the sand with a board.
Nin is a 3,000-year-old town built on a small island in the middle of a shallow lagoon, and the water is unlike anywhere else on this coast. It stays ankle- to waist-deep for hundreds of metres, warms to 28–30 °C in midsummer, and lies flat as a mirror most mornings. The bottom is sand — not pebble, not rock — so you can walk in barefoot and step onto the board in water that barely reaches your knees. Queen's Beach (Kraljičina plaža) runs three kilometres alongside it.
You can paddle the lagoon in almost any direction and never be out of your depth, which is why this is where we send people who have never stood on a board. Follow the channel around the old town for the postcard version — medieval walls on one side, the Velebit mountains behind — or head out along Queen's Beach and the sandbars. There's no crossing to worry about and no boat traffic to speak of. Warm, shallow, flat: an hour here is a different sport from paddling the open channel.
Nin is a day-trip destination as much as a place people stay, so we get both: families in apartments for the week, and people driving up from Zadar for the afternoon. If you're driving anyway, collecting the boards from us on the way out is free and saves the €20 delivery — they pack into bags that fit in a boot. If you're staying, delivery to the door is the easier answer.

We had such an amazing time paddleboarding - beforehand we had lots of contact explaining where would be best to meet, routes to take etc. They were incredibly flexible with timings for pick up as we weren’t sure our plans for the day and even changed the day completely due to wind. Part way through one of us stood on a sea urchin ( we had no idea what to do) so called them for information, they came and helped take the spikes out and even dropped us home, giving us dinner recommendations in the mean time which most definitely hit the spot. Yes. Delivery to Nin is €20 for the whole reservation, however many boards you take, and we collect them again at the end. We deliver to the lagoon, the Queen's Beach car park, and apartments in and around the town.
It's the most beginner-friendly place to paddle near Zadar. The lagoon stays ankle- to waist-deep for hundreds of metres and is usually flat as a mirror, so if you come off the board you simply stand up. The bottom is sand rather than rock.
€15 per board for one day, €36 for three days (€12 a day) and €63 for a week (€9 a day). Delivery to Nin adds €20 to the reservation. If you're driving up from Zadar anyway, collecting the boards from us is free.
Yes. Kraljičina plaža runs about three kilometres along the lagoon and you can paddle the length of it in shallow water. If Queen's Beach is your destination, ask us to meet you at the car park end so you don't carry the board across the sand.
